It was in a really quaint little restaurant where the press conference took place and formality was in the air. One would think that the press conference was going to be serious, and with all the beautiful female cast and dashing male cast, no one expected outbursts of laughter and funny stories from them, but things sometimes don't go according to expectations right?
First, a little about the drama:
Injustice is about Jian Shuman (Tiffany Leong) who, before the death of her mother, incidentally found out about the person who caused her father's death--Zhao Shilin (Fu Zhi Jian). To Shuman, Zhao Shilin was the reason she lost her family and decided to take revenge on the Zhao family. Shuman then hides the truth from her good friends Lin Shunyuan (Zzen Zhang, pronounced "Zen") and He Jingchun (Emily Lim), to plan her revenge. Before that, Shuman joined a beauty pageant and had already befriended Zhao Yutian (Chris Tong), the youngest daughter of the Zhao Family. Zhao Yufan (William San), who is the second heir to the Zhao family, is madly in love with Shuman and she takes this opportunity to marry him to enter the Zhao family. In her quest to take revenge, she partners with He Zhenghao (Wee Kheng Meng) and the two eventually carry out Shuman's plans. The eldest son of the Zhao family Zhao Yusen (Alan Yun) is not spared from the drama, he and his wife Rebecca Wan Shunyi (Soo Wincci) are somehow involved in a complicated relationship with the other characters.
So back to the press conference, Tiffany Leong was the first to talk about her role in the drama and she suddenly burst into tears! She told everyone how she had gone so deep into her role as Shuman that she felt like she was slowly losing herself. It was a big relief for her to finally be able to come out and find her real self again.
Next was Wee Kheng Meng or more known with his Chinese name Qi Ming. When asked about how he found his role of playing the bad guy, he said that it took him a lot of conscious effort to remind himself to act evil, and at this point Zzen Zhang who is used to playing antagonist roles said "You should have taken pointers from me!" It was funny because Qi Ming even said his dad calls him from time to time and instead of checking whether he's fine, his dad checks on whether Qi Ming is playing his bad guy role bad enough!
Then, the focus turned to William San who played the role of Shuman's husband. When emcee Nicholas from oneFM asked if he would fall for Tiffany Leong in real life, William was busy trying to explain how it was hard to fall for someone who is really focused on work and Tiffany jumped in to say "Oh well, what he means is...no!"
But, Nicholas wasn't about to let him off the hook just yet, he pointed out how William was kept busy on his Blackberry the whole time so maybe William has someone else hmmm...
Alan Yun who plays the eldest son Zhao Yusen doesn't know how to read Mandarin and this was the first time he's had so many lines for a role. He shared a funny story on how the cast were at Tropicana City Mall filming a scene from the drama. When they wrapped, they decided to have lunch together, so William San BB-ed (Blackberry-ed) Alan to ask him where he was. Alan replied William saying "tageoshi". William and the rest thought Alan was having Japanese at some restaurant but they couldn't find any restaurant named "Tageoshi". Turns out, "tageoshi" is the pinyin for the chinese word which meant "big brother is taking a dump". Alan is the big brother in the drama you see!
It was easy to tell how close the cast has gotten through filming the drama and I think that's what makes a good cast--their bond and chemistry. All jokes and laughter aside, this drama leans more to the serious side with elements of love, hate, family feuds and revenge. It'll be interesting to Tiffany's acting and learn how the story unfolds!
Don't forget to catch "Injustice" starting from the 23rd of August 2010, every Mondays to Thursdays @ 10pm!
