It's the Superbowl season in the U.S. right now and every single picture or tweet that I've seen of the YouTube artists I follow in the states are ALL talking about the superbowl. Heck, even Martha Stewart has recipes specially for game days!
But because it's Music Mondays, I'm going to talk about the superbowl & music, and maybe leave the food out for tomorrow.
Armed with a guitar, a mic, recorder, and his soothing voice, Narmi is out to conquer the world! Well, not really but that's kinda like what I thought when I first saw his tumblr & facebook page named Narmi Adventures.
Hey guys, the new year has passed and this is my first post for 2012! And the blog has a new layout (well sorta) for the new year~ \(^O^)/
So yes, AJ Rafael was in town last Saturday to perform for his fellow Malaysian YouTube fans at the Bentley Auditorium and boy was he amazing!
If you watched AJ's vids of him introducing his South East Asia tour dates, you'd know that his KL showcase fell on the same day as Simple Plan's. AJ actually revealed that the KL show was near to getting canceled; but because of the crowd that turned up, it didn't. And because of that, he thanked everyone that came out that night.
What better way to experience Christmas than to listen to some great Christmas covers to get you into the mood? And here's one that I highly recommend: David Choi & Inch Chua's cover of Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song".
I've always been a fan of YouTube artist David Choi, and I couldn't stop listening to his latest cover of Nat King Cole's "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" a.k.a "The Christmas Song" with Inch Chua.
Inch's voice is so jazzy and classic, it blended amazingly well with David's vocals in this cover. Ah, how I just want to curl up under a blanket and sip a hot drink while listening to this (regardless of Malaysia being a country where it's summer all year round).
And although it's been said many times, many ways; here's a Merry Christmas to you!
If you're a Grey's Anatomy fan, The Fray needs no introduction. You would've heard their "How To Save A Life" featured in an episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 2 alongside Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" which was also featured in Grey's that season.
The Fray is about to release their third studio album next year entitled "Scars and Stories", and it pulls together songs that were inspired from The Fray's travels in the past year.
Reading the album's inspiration from wikipedia, it says:
"We've been through a lot of stuff personally, and as band we're still
together, and I think we like the idea of scars you know, because
they're healed you know. They are not like wounds necessarily, but
they're still kind of a road map of where you been, and sometimes kinda
point to where you want to go."
I love music that comes with a story, an inspiring story at that. It makes every tune played and every word sung all the more meaningful. And the first single "Heartbeat" is a song like that, inspired by an expatriate woman Isaac Slade (Vocalist) met during his travels through South Africa and Rwanda. As the woman shared her story of miracles and overcoming odds, he felt connected to her and he was inspired to write.
Reading about all these only makes me anticipate their album a little more, and next year feels like a really long wait.
So for now, I'm going to replay "Heartbeat" and let the words seep in... "And you don't look back, not for anything. If you love someone you love them all the same" - How true.
