Techy Thursdays: The New iPad

The new iPad from Apple

Reached the office this morning and instantly heard my name being called from another end. I turned over to see my colleague looking really eager, I wouldn't say she was excited though, she was more like eager to express how she felt about the new iPad, and it wasn't good.

So people have been swaying on both ends over whether the new iPad lived up to it's anticipation, and for those who like the all new resolutionary iPad, we had no qualms. The ones who expected a much thinner iPad with more built in and physical changes were however, greatly disappointed.

The new iPad has an amazing new retina display which is even more HD than your HDTV. The 5MP camera I love, and the all new 1080p HD videos are just what I was looking forward to in this new release. Also, I was pleased to find out that there was an all new iLife for the iPad, which makes more sense now that the camera and video functions are way better and I forsee more people just editing away directly from the device.

The bummer which my colleague was complaining about was that it was a little thicker than the iPad 2 and a little heavier. But then again, people who have reported on their first hand experience with the new iPad said that the difference wasn't as noticeable, from the outwards, the iPad 2 & the new iPad actually looked the same.

As for the additional 4G functions, that I find unnecessary. Well technically it wouldn't make much of a difference whether or not the new iPad supported 4G, it wasn't one of the things people were unhappy about in the old iPad 2 anyway.

Finally, after hearing the complaints my colleague had to say about the new iPad, I asked if she would buy it and she replied: "Even though I'm complaining a lot about it, I might still buy it. Not because the specs are better but I wanted an iPad for a long time and I might as well get the new one."

Point being, despite the disappointments some say they felt, I think people are still going to get the new iPad. Especially since the only one thing that doesn't work on any Apple product, the Adobe Flash, is no longer being further developed.

I'm just waiting to see the Androids make a comeback trying to beat Apple's resolutionary invention...
